- Sammy Omollo predicted Senegal and hosts Cameroon will face off in the final of AFCON 2021 with the latter winning the title
- Egypt and Burkina Faso are the other teams looking to reach the penultimate of this edition of the continental tournament
- However, according to Omollo, the two teams will be eliminated in the semis, with Senegal and Cameroon progressing
Former Kenyan international Sammy Omollo has backed Cameroon to win the 2021 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Cameroon, who are hosting the postponed competition are already in the semifinals having seen off The Gambia in the last eight to book their spot.
The Antonio Conceicao-tutored side now has to contend with a meeting with Egypt in the semis as they set their sights on reaching the final.
And Omollo has no doubt Indomitable Lions have everything it takes to make it to the final and ultimately lift the title.
"I am going with Cameroon for obvious reasons," Omollo told Goal.
"They are playing at home and have massive support from the fans as well as the stakeholders. It is a massive motivation and players will not want to disappoint," he added.
According to the immediate former For Mania assistant coach, Cameroon will play Senegal in that final, with the ex-defender claiming Burkina Faso, who will play the Lions of Teranga in the other semi have no chance of going past the last four.
"Despite their undeniable quality, it will be a tough call to stop Senegal. The Teranga Lions have good quality within their squad as opposed to Burkina Faso," Omollo noted.
