John Terry Sends Message to Arsenal Over Diego Costa as Spaniard Remains Free Agent
- Diego Costa is yet to sign for a new club after leaving Atletico Miniero after only five months due to personal reasons
- The Spaniard was heavily tipped to return to the Premier League, with Arsenal among the clubs linked with a transfer
- But with Costa still a free agent after January, his former teammate John Terry is bemused that no club has snatched him
Former Chelsea defender John Terry was left dumbfounded at the fact that no Premier League club acquired his former teammate Diego Costa in the January transfer window.
Costa is currently a free agent after parting ways with Brazilian outfit Atletico Miniero and has been heavily tipped to join Arsenal, especially after the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
He has experience in the Premier League, having previously played for Chelsea and winning the Premier League twice in his first three seasons alongside John Terry the first time he won it.
Taking to social media, Terry expressed his bemusement that Costa was still a free agent, tweeting:
"I can’t believe @diegocosta hasn’t been signed by a Premier League club?
"This man is a winner and would make any team stronger."
Costa - the man, the machine
Diego Costa is infamous for his confrontational personality and style of play but is also known to be very good with the ball at his feet.
In his first three seasons at Chelsea, his numbers were very impressive as he managed to net 59 times before eventually leaving in 2017.
Arsenal were among the clubs that were heavily linked with the 33-year old, who terminated his contract with Atletico Miniero in December 2021.
Why Costa left Brazil
Costa only lasted five months with the Belo Horizonte club, although he managed to win the league and cup double.
Miniero’s director of football Rodrigo Caetano disclosed, as per the Mirror, that Costa had expressed his desire to leave the club for personal issues.
