Talented Manchester City Full-Back Commits Long Term Future to Club in Massive New Deal

Manchester City fullback Joao Cancelo has signed a new long term deal to stay at the Etihad until 2027.

The Citizens announced the new deal on their social media on Tuesday, February 1 which is an extension of his current contract that was set to run out in 2025.

Speaking on his new deal, Cancelo said as per the Manchester City website:

"I am incredibly happy to have signed this new agreement, there is nowhere better to play football.

"City players have everything they need to reach their full potential, with amazing facilities, world-class team-mates and an incredible manager who pushes us every single day."

Cancelo the revelation

Cancelo signed for Manchester City from Juventus in 2019 and has since won one Premier League League and two League cups. He has also made 106 appearances for the club.

He has been a revelation for Manchester City since making his debut and his superb form has continued into the 2021/22 season where he has registered three goals and registered eight assists in 30 games.

Manchester City’s technical director Txiki Begiristain added: "Joao is the ultimate professional. He absolutely loves football and applies himself every single day to become better.

"He sets really high standards and any young player should observe the way he applies himself if they want a blueprint for success."

The 20-year old Manchester United striker has been in police custody since Sunday after the striker was accused of sexual violence.

Videos and pictures of a woman badly injured was posted on social media as the lady accused the Manchester United striker of physically assaulting her.

A number of Manchester United stars including David De Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo have since unfollowed Greenwood, and the 20-year old has since been suspended by the club ‘until further notice'.
