Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey is now the highest paid player at Arsenal following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's transfer to Spanish giants Barcelona.
Arsenal agreed to let Aubameyang join Barcelona on free transfer, 18 months from end of his £350,000-a-week contract.
The Gunners are estimated to be making a saving of around £25m in wages with Aubameyang's departure. But his exit means the highest earner at Arsenal is now Thomas Partey at £200K-a-week pay.
Second on the list is Alexandre Lacazette on £182k, with club-record signing Nicolas Pepe now third with a £140k-a-week deal.
The rest of the highest earners list is completed by two players on £100k - Bernd Leno and Granit Xhaka.
Partey joined Arsenal on a mega-money deal on transfer deadline day in August 2020 - but his mammoth salary was dwarfed by the outgoing Gabonese striker.
The 27-year-old signed a four-year deal with Mikel Arteta's side on transfer deadline day in August 2020 after Arsenal triggered his £45million release clause with Atletico Madrid.
Partey will finish the season with just two recognised strikers in his squad, with both Eddie Nketiah and Alex Lacazette out of contract in the summer.
Emotional scenes as Ghanaian midfielder apologizes after getting sent off in cup game
Meanwhile, Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has apologized to Arsenal fans after the midfielder was sent off in the Gunners second leg semi-final against Liverpool at the Emirates stadium reports The Mirror.
The Gunners had put up a gallant display in the first leg at Anfield playing out a goalless draw without key players such as Partey who was away with the Ghanaian national team at the AFCON.
That result had made Arsenal fans optimistic going into the return leg but saw their hopes squashed after Diego Jota’s brace propelled Liverpool into the Carabao Cup final ahead of the Gunners.
