FootballJubilation in Spain As Embattled Arsenal Star Aubameyang Arrives in Barcelona to Complete Loan Move
- Aubameyang is set to join Spanish club Barcelona on loan from English Premier League giants Arsenal
- The Gabonese striker has touched down in Spain for his medical, ignoring Newcastle United who also made enquiries
- Reports claim the player will be made to accept a huge pay cut in order to fit into Barcelona’s wage cap for the season
Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has arrived in Spain and has headed to Camp Nou to complete a loan switch to Barcelona, Just Arsenal reports.
The ousted captain of Arsenal has been frozen out of the Gunners’ first team and has consequently been linked with a move away from the Emirates' club in recent times.
It was gathered that Saudi outfit Al-Nassr had earlier submitted a bid for the former Borussia Dortmund forward as Newcastle United also made enquiries.
He recently became the number-one target for Barcelona and according to journalist Gerard Romero, the 32-year-old is now in Catalunya to complete his loan switch to Barcelona.
Aubameyang to take pay cut
Earlier, 90min reported that Aubameyang would have to take a pay-cut and Arsenal would also have to subsidise his wages if the move were to be finalised.
The transfer is also thought to not be dependent on Ousmane Dembele leaving, as has been reported elsewhere.
Aubameyang is desperately prepared to leave the London club and head to Spanish side Barcelona, even if it means playing for free.
Multiple sources are also reporting that the Catalan giants are also interested in signing the embattled Gunner on loan until the end of the season.
Earlier reports claim the real issue that must be addressed is who will pay the Gabonese’ wages if he joins the La Liga club.
Aubameyang won’t be the only player to take a pay cut to move to Barca. New signings Ferran Torres and Adama Traore have both moved on reduced salaries, while Dani Alves is said to be earning the lowest salary permitted by La Liga.
