Daniel Amartey has joined the bandwagon of Black Stars players issuing apology to Ghanaians after a shambolic Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The four times African champions exited the competition at the group stages, and in the process the team became the worse ever Ghana team at AFCON after failing to win a game.
Amartey, who is revered by Ghanaians, took to his Instagram story to ask for forgiveness from aggrieved Ghana fans.
"I don't even know where to start and I don't know how to put words into how I am feeling at the exact time," he started.
"There were expectations placed on us when we left for AFCON. We failed Ghana and fans across the World with poor results.
"I will be one of the first to own and admit we let Ghana down. A bad record was set and I profusely say sorry to all Ghanaians. As a member of the team, I know how my other colleagues feel at this moment. We are sad and hurt but we know Ghanaians are hurt more.
"I have just settled back into club football and I will continue to work harder for the Ghana shirt. Sweat and bleed for the nation Ghana. Together we will win again. God bless you all."
Despite Ghana's poor AFCON, Daniel Amartey was one of the players to give his all for the country.
He returned to Leicester last week and played the entire duration as the Foxes were held by Brighton.
