Former Ghana and Feyenoord defender, Christian Attah Gyan, has been given a rousing farewell after he was laid to rest in the Netherlands following his passing last month.
The Ghanaian football legend passed on on December 29, after losing his battle with cancer in a hospital in the Netherlands.
In photos and videos posted on Twitter, the ex-Ghana player was given a beautiful tribute after about 1500 fans of Feyenoord came to bid their final goodbyes.
"Feyenoord supporters said goodbye to Christian Gyan in an impressive way on Friday. About 1,500 people gathered on the forecourt of De Kuip to pay a last tribute to the former player who died on December 29, 2021," wrote the club on their official website.
"A huge banner was unveiled in front of his family and a guard of honor was formed in front of the hearse. All this, in combination with the torches that were lit, resulted in special images."
Christian Gyan was part of the Black Starlets team that won the FIFA U17 World Cup in Ecuador 1995. He joined Dutch giants Feyenoord in 1997 following his exploits in the youth leagues in Ghana. He spent ten years at Feyenoord but was twice sent on loan at Excelcior.
He was a member of the Feyenoord team that won the UEFA Cup in 2002 after beating Dortmund 3-2 in the final. He featured in that game. He also spent time at TPS, Wrexham and RoPS.
