Traore’s move to North London seems to be edging closer and reports now claim a fee in the region of £20million is close to being agreed.

The Spaniard has been an integral part of Wolverhampton since signing from Middlesbrough in 2018.

He has grown at Wolves, emerging as one of the most coveted Premier League talents, thanks to his dribbling and strength.

Spurs boss Antonio Conte is a fan of Traore, and a deal has been sanctioned, with the two clubs ‘very close’ to arriving at an agreement, according to Sportsmole.

At Wolves, Traore has 18 months left in his contract and reports have it that he is not intending on extending his deal.

An initial bid of £15m was tabled for Traore, but Wolves rejected it as they place the Spaniard at a higher value.

Spurs are devoid of creativity down the right-hand side in their squad and they are likely to budge on Wolves’ asking price.

Bruno Lage’s stance on Traore

Amid heavy exit speculations, Wolves boss Bruno Lage vowed to ‘protect’ Traore to aid his focus on his football and the next game.

"I don't see any difference in his behavior, his mentality or the way he works. The club talks with him, they will decide the future. I'm happy with him. Lage said in a press conference.
"I don't know how much Spurs offered or if they did an offer. I won't talk about money, that's not for me. We have a top player, a lovely guy. Sometimes this is about business. I remember how much Spurs protect [Harry] Kane. We will protect our player."

Earlier this week, Antonio Conte made it clear the club needed to bolster their squad, saying:

“In January, it is not easy but at the same time, we know very well that if there is the opportunity and also if it's not the best opportunity, but we need to do something.
“Also if I repeat that this could not be the best opportunity but I think that we are in a situation where we have to try to improve the squad because the squad is not so big.”

Spurs up to fifth after dramatic Leicester win

In the league, Tottenham had to come from behind in injury time to secure a dramatic 3-2 win over Leicester City on Wednesday, January 19.

The Foxes were only moments away from clinching what would have been a famous victory, but Spurs winger Steven Bergwijn had other ideas.
