Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has apologized to Arsenal fans after the midfielder was sent off in the Gunners second leg semi-final against Liverpool at the Emirates stadium reports The Mirror.
The Gunners had put up a gallant display in the first leg at Anfield playing out a goalless draw without key players such as Partey who was away with the Ghanaian national team at the AFCON.
That result had made Arsenal fans optimistic going into the return leg but saw their hopes squashed after Diego Jota’s brace propelled Liverpool into the Carabao Cup final ahead of the Gunners.
Arsenal put up a lethargic performance on the night and Thomas Partey fresh from the Africa Cup of Nations after Ghana were eliminated in the group stage was the culprit after bagging a red card on the night.
The former Atletico Madrid midfielder who was subbed in with just 15minutes to the end of the game but bagged two yellow cards in a space of 3minutes has now tendered an unreserved apology to Gunners fans via his Instagram handle.
The 28-year old has promised to make amends for his red card but insisted he will not be changing the hard-tackling nature of his game.
“Am responsible for anything that happened and will take all the critiques, I should be more intelligent not to get in a challenge already booked but this is my personality I like to fight for every ball.
Arsenal have had a few weeks to forget after getting knocked out of the FA Cup by Nottingham Forest and are also struggling to secure a top-four position in the Premier League as they currently lie in 6th place on the log.
