Former Orlando Pirates Captain Tonic Chabalala Believes Two Coach System Does Not Work

• Former Orlando Pirates defender and captain Tonic Chabalala is not convinced about the dual coaching setup at the club
• Fadlu Davids and Madla Ncikazi are currently co-coaches of the senior team, positions they were appointed to after German manager Josef Zinnbauer resigned abruptly last year
• With no indication from Orlando Pirates that it will appoint a permanent manager soon or stay with the arrangement, Chabalala fears that it might cause division among players

Former Orlando Pirates defender and captain Tonic Chabalala is not a fan of the current co-coaching system in place at the club.

Fadlu Davids and Mandla Ncikazi stepped into both roles after German manager Josef Zinnbauer abruptly resigned from the post of head coach last year. Orlando Pirates is yet to appoint a new permanent coach.

Quoted by The South African, Chabalala said that having two coaches would cause division among the players. He also added, in an interview carried by iDiski Times, that both coaches had players that they each understood well, which was unsustainable.

Chabalala said:

“Despite the team winning the last game, they will change the line-up the following week. Yes, we know you can change, but not every week, even [when] the team is winning.

"In my opinion there is no consistency, I’m always saying this one thing, there is no team that can win if there’s no foundation, if you can look, week in week out they change starting line-ups.”

From football fields to farming, Orlando Pirates midfielder Deon Hotto recently opened up about his other passions when he's not playing.

Speaking to KickOff, Hotto admitted that he owns a farm back in his homeland of Namibia where he has approximately 54 head of cattle. While he's competing in the Premier Soccer League, family members tend to the farm he said.

Deon Hotto will also be a part of the first DStv Compact Cup which will take place this weekend, The South African confirmed. Hotto will play for Warriors FC coached by Dylan Kerr.
