Belgian winger Eden Hazard appears to have turned down a move to relegation-threatened Newcastle United despite the Magpies over £40m bid being accepted by Real Madrid for the player.
Hazard has struggled for form and has been plagued with injuries since moving from Chelsea to the Spanish capital in 2019 for an initial fee of £88m from the Stamford Bridge club.
This has hampered the 30-year old’s stock at Real Madrid with the likes of Vinicius Jnr preferred in attack alongside Karim Benzema while the Belgian is only good to start from the bench.
According to the Daily Mail, Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has accepted an offer of £33.4m plus £8.3m in add-ons, from Newcastle with Eddie Howe desperate to strengthen his beleaguered squad in a bid to escape relegation this season.
However, it is now confirmed that despite the Galaticos accepting the bid from the Magpies, Eden Hazard has rejected the proposed move insisting he will only leave the Bernabau for a bigger club playing in the Champions League as reported via Spanish news outlet Marca.
Chelsea have long been linked with a reunion with Hazard, who dazzled at Stamford Bridge over his seven-year spell, scoring 110 goals and providing 92 assists in 352 appearances for the club.
Real Madrid President is believed to be ready to offload the Belgian in the January transfer window as the Galaticos try to create space in their squad for the signing of PSG’s Kylian Mbappe in the summer.
