The match staged at Qatar SC Stadium saw Al-Duhail struggle to break a stubborn Al-Sailiya side who held firm to ensure the first half of the clash ended goalless.

However, Olunga fired home the opener 16 minutes into the second half, tapping into the back of the net from Almoez Ali's well-placed pass from the left.

Duhail looked set to bag the three points, only for Majdi Siddiq to equalise at the death for the home side.

The tie eventually ended in a 1-1 draw - leaving Duhail sitting on top of the table with 33 points, two ahead of second-placed Al Sadd who still have four matches to play.

Meanwhile, Olunga's strike against Al-Sailiya took his tally to 17 goals for Sabri Lamouchi's side.

The Harambee Stars skipper is the favourite to win the league's Golden Boot as his closest challenger for the award, Baghdad Bounedjah, is trailing him by seven goals.

Bounedjah is currently on international duty with Algeria at the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon.

Olunga linked with Fenerbahce move

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga has been linked with a stunning move to Europe with Turkish giants, Fenerbahce.

Olunga is currently plying his trade in the Middle East with Qatari outfit, Al Duhail SC, who he signed for in January 2021 after he departed Kashiwa Reysol.

The Kenyan international has enjoyed an impressive run of form with Al Duhail since his arrival scoring an eyewatering 26 goals in 19 league matches during his debut season.
