Victor Osimhen has been named in Napoli’s first team squad for the first time in over two months as the Nigerian striker has been deemed fit to compete for the Italian club.
Complete Sports reports Osimhen was named in the Napoli squad list to face Bologna on Monday night as the Nigerian is back to full fitness after recovery from a cheekbone injury and corona virus recently.
The former Lille striker has been out of action for Napoli after suffering a facial injury, during a league clash against Inter Milan back in November last year.
The 23-year-old had to be substituted and rushed to hospital following a head collision with Inter’s Milan Skriniar.
He underwent surgery and was ruled out for three months but made a remarkable recovery, which saw him included in the Super Eagles’ 28-man squad for the AFCON 2021.
The Napoli forward however contracted Covid-19 in December and had to be dropped from the Nigerian team to the AFCON.
Osimhen has scored just five league goals in 11 league games this season for Luciano Spaletti’s side and has missed Napoli’s last 11 games since his injury.
Napoli are currently in third place on 43 points, seven points behind leaders Inter Milan in the league standing.

Earlier Sportsbrief had reported Erik Ten Hag, Ajax's manager, has revealed that Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus will not be joining the Black Stars for the Africa Cup of Nations.
According to Ten Hag, the 21-year-old who could not make the bench for Ajax's match at Utrecht is yet to make fully recovery.
