Kevin De Bruyne was City's match hero as his lone goal fired the Citizens to a crucial victory.

The result saw Pep Guardiola's men establish a firm lead at the top with 56 points from 22 matches.

They have an 11-point advantage over Liverpool who hammered Brentford 3-0 at Anfield on Sunday, January 16, to climb to second.

Fabinho, Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Takumi Minamino were all on target as the Reds secured the three points.

Jurgen Klopp's charges now have a two-point advantage over Chelsea who dropped to third with 43 points.

West Ham United complete the top four slots with 37 points despite their 3-2 defeat to Leeds.

Arsenal are placed fifth with 35 points but with two games to play - including their north London derby against Tottenham.

Man United, meanwhile, face the prospect of missing out on a Champions League spot after they surrendered a two-goal advantage to draw 2-2 with Aston Villa.

The result left them rooted in seventh with just 32 points, five off a Champions League spot.

Norwich City, Newcastle, and Burnley remain the three teams in the relegation zone.
