19-year old Neco Williams was the star of the day after scoring a late winner to help Athletic Club seal a spot in the Spanish Super Cup final after coming from a goal down to defeat favorites Atletico Madrid.
Two late goals within a space of four minutes in the second semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup saw Athletic Club bounce back to stun Atletico Madrid 2-1.
Atletico had gotten the lead in the 62nd minute after Unai Simon's own goal however, Athletic hit back with goals in the 77th and 81st minute respectively with Neco Williams grabbing the winner.
News Bytes had reported Atletico were considered the favorites for this tie but went on to lose the same, conceding two poor goals from corners.
Lovely footage has now emerged of the team’s celebration after the final whistle courtesy Goal as Neco Williams was captured with his elder brother Inaki Williams who also doubles as a striker for Athletic Club celebrating with their mom in the stands.
The result means that they’ll be the ones to face Real Madrid in the final on Sunday evening after Los Blancos beat Barcelona in the other semi-final last night.
This will also be Athletic Club sixth final in the Spanish Super Cup and for the first time in consecutive years after playing in Seville in 2021; they could win two consecutive titles in the same competition.
