There were concerns at the Old Trafford on Thursday as Cristiano Ronaldo picked up an injury in training and the 36-year-old was made to leave early.

It was gathered that United doctors had to monitor CR7’s situation before sending him home early amid fears that he might be out of action when they face Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.

The former Juventus striker is desperate to return and has spent time in the oxygen chamber in his house to try and accelerate his recovery.

Ronaldo linked with a move away from Man Utd

Meanwhile, Ronaldo is said to be plotting a move to Spain as he is increasingly frustrated at the lack of progress at current club Manchester United.

Manchester United started the season as one of the favourites to be Premier League champions, but instead find themselves fighting for the top four before Christmas.

Ronaldo has now met with his agent Jorge Mendes to find a solution to his current problems as the former Real Madrid striker is concerned with United's current trajectory and is disappointed a change in manager has not produced an immediate turnaround.

Ronaldo laments Man Utd situation in New Year message

Sports Brief earlier reported that Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo admitted he was “not happy with what we’re achieving” at the club in a powerful message of 2021.

Ronaldo, who finished the year with 47 goals in for club and country, shared an image of himself alongside his family and reflected on what has been an eventful 2021 in his professional career.

Despite being United’s top goalscorer so far this season, Ronaldo was quick to admit that the team’s performances left loads of room for improvement.
