The Argentine superstar took to his social media to update fans, saying he still needed more time as he continued his recovery.

Messi, currently playing for PSG, tested positive for the virus while on holiday at the tail end of 2021. And was subsequently forced to self isolate.

During his isolation the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has missed two of PSG’s games - the win over Vannes in the Coupe de France round of 32 and the 1-1 draw against Lyon in the league.

"As you know I had Covid and I wanted to thank you all for the messages I received," Messi posted on Instagram.
"It has taken me longer than I thought to be OK but I'm almost recovered and I'm looking forward to getting back on the field.
"I'm training to get back to being at 100%, great challenges are coming this year and I hope we can see each other again," he added.

PSG play Brest in their next Ligue 1 game and Messi is expected to sit that one out as well.

A number of Messi’s teammates including Angel Di Maria, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Julian Draxler also tested positive while on Christmas break.

Messi is expected to return soon, and will probably be available for the Champions League round of 16 clash against Real Madrid at the Parc des Princes on 15 February.

DJ accused of infecting Messi speaks

In the wake of Messi’s COVID-19 diagnosis, Argentinian DJ Fer Palacio had to come out to deny claims that he was the one who infected the superstar.

The Argentinian DJ has since received death threats, forcing him to take to Instagram with a video where he spoke of how people were blaming him now and even proved that he does not have Covid19.
