English giants Liverpool are now linked with Colombian international Luis Diaz whose release clause is valued at €80million (£67m), according to reports.
The FC Porto star is on the radar of the Premier League club as he has also attracted interests from several clubs across the European continent, Liverool Echo reports.
It was gathered that his Portuguese club will not negotiate the player’s release clause as various reports claim Jurgen Klopp is desperate in landing the star at Anfield.
The 25-year-old is also on the radar of other clubs, but at the moment there is no official bid for him yet.
Premier League sides Tottenham and Manchester United have earlier made efforts to lure the player to the UK, and now ex-Liverpool defender Glen Johnson says he would be surprised if the Reds spend more than £60million on one player - even if they need to.
Johnson told BettingOdds.com:
“It’s certainly against what Liverpool do in terms of going out and splashing the cash,” “But at the end of the day, if you want a player who’s linked with a host of other big clubs then you have to pay.
“I’ll be surprised if they pay that much money, but they do need another player in that position who can come into the side in the same way that Diogo Jota did.”
