Sanchez scored with virtually the last kick of the game to win it just as the game seemed to be headed for penalties.

Juventus had initially taken the lead through Weston McKennie, who slotted home a deflected cross from Alvaro Morata, but the Old Lady was pegged back in the first half through a Lautaro Martinez penalty.

The penalty came about after Mattia de Sciglio's committed a foul on Edin Dzeko.

In a highly engaging encounter, Federico Bernardeschi squandered two massive chances in the second half for Juventus, while Juve goalkeeper Mattia Perin was in inspired form on the night.

Notably, Perin did excellently to keep out Denzel Dumfries, who saw his header tipped over the bar in what was Inter’s best chance to grab the win.

The two teams could not be separated in the normal period, and the game eventually went to extra time.

Juventus, who beat Atalanta in last year’s Coppa Italia final, were making a 10th consecutive appearance in the Italian Super Cup.

The win will be a landmark one for Inter boss Simeone Inzaghi, who clinched his first piece of silverware as the Nerezzuri boss.

Inzaghi only took over at Inter last summer after the departure of Antonio Conte, who has since joined Tottenham Hotspur.

Both teams will now shift focus back to Serie A, where Inter are having another impressive season as they are top of the league, 11 points clear of the Bianconeri who are fifth.

Sanchez tipped for Premier League return

In other news, Alexis Sanchez is on of Everton’s potential targets for the January transfer window.

According to Sunsport, there are fears at Goodison Part that Everton might lose star forwards Richarlison or Dominic Calvert Lewin in the January transfer window.
