The Egyptian is currently with his national team for the Africa Cup of Nations, but spared some time to speak on his current situation with his club.

Reports suggest that negotiations are still ongoing between Salah and Liverpool, and a new contract is on the cards.

In the recent past, the Egyptian has made it clear he wants to stay at Liverpool, and he even went to the lengths of declaring he would love to finish his career at the club.

But with no agreement yet, Salah says the situation is currently out of his hands.

"I want to stay, but it's not in my hands. It's in their hands," Salah told GQ. "They know what I want. I'm not asking for crazy stuff."

Since arriving from Roma for £43.9million in the summer of 2017, Salah has reinvented himself into one of the finest players of his generation.

His current deal was signed in 2018.

“The thing is when you ask for something and they show you they can give you something because they appreciate what you did for the club.

Several Liverpool players have already signed new deals but Salah is talks remain one of Liverpool’s big hurdles this season.

The Egyptian has been in fine form once again this season, netting 23 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions.

Klopp on Salah’s situation

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp also recently spoke on his star man’s contract situation but he did not express any concerns.

"You know exactly what Mo is about. We're talking and extending a contract with a player like Mo is not something where you meet for a cup of tea in the afternoon and find an agreement. That's completely normal,” Klopp said in December.
"There's really nothing else to say about Mo. He speaks about it and I can only say a few things because all the rest is not for the public, obviously.
