Salah narrowly missed out on the Golden Boot last season as Tottenham's Harry Kane carted home the prestigious prize with 23 goals.

However, the Egyptian who is currently on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations has shown clear intention to pick the award after bagging 16 goals already with the season entering the second half.

The two-time EPL Golden Boot winner is sure to face some stiff competition from a number of players also in the mix for the individual award.

Fellow Liverpool star Diogo Jota is also in the race after making an instant impact at Anfield after his switch from Wolves.

The Portuguese has scored 10 goals in his maiden season with the Reds and he is placed second on the goalscorers charts.

Jamie Vardy is third with nine goals despite showing a few signs of slowing down in front of goal.

Other players in the mix for the golden shoe include Sadio Mane, Man United's Cristiano Ronaldo, and Heung-Min Son of Tottenham Hotspur.

Sports Brief now takes a look at the top 10 goalscorers so far in the EPL:

1. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) - 16 goals

2. Diogo Jota (Liverpool) - 10 goals

3. Jamie Vardy (Leicester) - 9 goals

4. Cristiano Ronaldo (Man United) - 8 goals

5. Michail Antonio (West Ham) - 8 goals

6. Raphinha (Leeds United) - 8 goals

7. Emmanuel Dennis (Watford) - 8 goals

8. Heung-Min Son (Tottenham) - 8 goals

9. Sadio Mane (Liverpool) - 8 goals

10. Emile Smith Rowe (Arsenal) - 8 goals

Salah makes contract demands

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Liverpool ace Mohammed Salah has openly spoken about his contract situation at Anfield, saying he is not “asking for crazy stuff."

The Egyptian is currently with his national team for the Africa Cup of Nations, but spared some time to speak on his current situation with his club.

Reports suggest that negotiations are still ongoing between Salah and Liverpool, and a new contract is on the cards.
