  • Grudge-bearing Bafana Bafana fans came out in numbers on social media to wish nothing but ill-will on Ghana last night
  • The Black Stars were defeated 1-0 by Morocco in the opening match of Group C of the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon
  • The source of the ill-feeling is the controversial 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier between South Africa and Ghana last November

Bafana Bafana fans are clearly struggling to let go of South Africa's loss to Ghana in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

They came out in numbers to celebrate Morocco's defeat of the Black Stars in the opening match of group at the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon. A sucker-punch of a strike from Sofiane Boufal in the 83rd minute was the difference between the sides in what was an entertaining encounter at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé.

As reported on KickOff, sporting relations between South Africa and Ghana went sideways after the latter won 1-0 in a crucial encounter in west Africa. This was due largely in part to the performance of Senegalese referee Maguette Ndiaye, who drew criticism at home and abroad for his allegedly biased decision-making in favour of the Ghanaians.

The fallout from the match led to the South African Football Association appealing to FIFA as per News24, but this was tossed out by world football's governing body as being 'inadmissible'.

Mzansi social media has clearly not forgotten, judging by the reaction to last night's result.

"TjoviTjo! Feed your eyes! Morocco fixed Ghana. Where was Senegal's Mr Bias Bribes Ref to assist jersey no 10 player to celebrate not crying? God loves us all."

Kabelo Mashula said:

"Well done Morocco! Dealt with the divers decisively!"

Nolan Vere said:

"Well done Morocco! It's quite hard to beat Ghana, who play with 14 men on the pitch..."

Mokgethi Moroe said:

"I saw them diving in the box like they did when we played them. They thought they have their favourite referee in the field, shame man..."

Video of Senegal's star man Sadio Mane pulling off the dance moves pleases fans

Football fans got to see why Liverpool and Senegal striker Sadio Mane is so elusive on the field.

As reported on Sports Brief, Mane is seen in a video shared by the Senegal Football Federation shaking what his mama gave him alongside a saxophonist and dancing singers.

The video was taken when Senegal departed for the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Senegal.
