FootballTension in Germany as Borussia Dortmund Star Haaland Plots Move to Top English Premier League Club
- Erling Haaland is anticipating a Manchester City transfer offer ahead of the summer window
- The Norwegian’s £64 million release clause is set to be activated in the summer alerting top European clubs such as Manchester City and Real Madrid
- Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admires the 21-year old and sees him as a major option for his team’s attack next summer
Erling Haaland seems to have given hints on where he will be playing his football next season as the Norwegian striker believes Manchester City will table a bid for his services next season.
The Borussia Dortmund ace has seen his stock rise since moving to Germany from Red Bull Salzburg and is being courted by almost all the European big teams.
Haaland’s will have his release clause of £64 million activated in the summer which has prompted big teams in Europe including Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich to be on alert for the Norwegian.
According to City Xtra, MARCA journalist Mario Cortegana, says Erling Haaland has ‘assumed’ that Manchester City will come in with an offer for him at the end of the ongoing season.
“He (Erling Haaland) has assumed that he has the Premier League giants after him and (Pep) Guardiola’s team are looking for a striker”, revealed Cortegana.
Reports already suggest the Citizens have scheduled meetings with the Norwegian’s representatives this January to discuss a move to the Etihad stadium having failed on a bid to bring in England captain Harry Kane last summer.
Pep Guardiola's side are seeking to defend their league crown and possibly go one step further in the Champions League without an out-and-out striker among their ranks.
Meanwhile Spanish club Barcelona could scupper City’s chances of bagging the Haaland deal as they are willing to go toe-to-toe with the current England champions.
The BBC reports Barcelona will have to retract from their rejection of a private investors CVC loan La Liga has got for its clubs, and that might help raise the wage cap.
