  • Mohamed Salah is one of the players expected to light up the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon
  • The Liverpool star is expected to lead the attack for the Pharaohs of Egypt who are drawn in Group D alongside Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau and Gambia
  • The Super Eagles of Nigeria who open their account against Egypt have said they will play against the Pharaohs and not just Salah

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have stated that they will go all out against Egypt when both teams meet at the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, All Nigeria Soccer reports.

Drawn in Group D alongside Egypt, Guinea-Bissau and Sudan, the Eagles begin their quest for a fourth continental title when they take on the Pharaohs on Tuesday, January 11.

No doubt, Liverpool talisman, Mohamed Salah is currently one of the most in-form players in the world at the moment and the Nigerian team has been warned to be wary of the Egyptian.

But Super Eagles media officer, Babafemi Raji, has stated that Eagles will be focused on the entire team and not just the Liverpool talisman.

He told Mehwar TV via Kingfut:

“We very much respect the Egyptian team and know the capabilities of Mohamed Salah. Our team has great potential and we know how to stop the strengths of the Pharaohs.
“We are here to play against the entire Egyptian national team, not just against Mohamed Salah.
“It is certain that Nigeria is the first candidate to qualify from its group, and we do not care who will qualify with us, and we respect everyone.”

Finidi George tells Eagles to be wary of Mo Salah

Meanwhile, former Nigerian international Finidi George has warned the Super Eagles to be wary of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah when they face Egypt in the AFCON 2021 opener.

According to Finidi, the Nigerian team could emerge victorious from their opening fixture if they keep Salah at bay, or if they can ensure the player gets a bad day.

Salah who is currently the highest goal scorer in the English topflight is expected to shine at the continental showpiece, but Finidi believes anything could be possible.

Zaidu Sanusi vows to stop Salah

Sports Brief earlier reported that having played against him twice in the Champions League, Super Eagles left-back Zaidu Sanusi believes he can stop Liverpool talisman, Mohamed Salah, when Nigeria clash against Egypt at AFCON 2021.

Recall that Liverpool came up against Porto twice in the Champions League but were victorious on both occasions.

Despite bagging a brace in the first leg and scoring another in the return tie, Sanusi is confident he can stop the Egyptian from shining this time around when they clash at AFCON.
