Ghana captain, Andre Ayew, has revealed the reason behind the country's failure to win the Africa Cup of Nations since 1982.
According to the 32-year-old, the Black Stars have just been unlucky at the competition after losing the finals three times since last winning the tournament 40 years ago.
In the pre-match conference for the Group C opener against Morocco on Monday, January 10, the Black Stars forward hopes the team will be lucky in Cameroon.
"I wouldn't say there is a problem, I think we have been unlucky and the last editions. I think we have the best African record of the team getting in the last four or the finals in the last 10 to 15 years," he said.
"I think we have been unlucky and we have to keep working hard and one day we will get there," he added.
The Black Stars lost to Ivory Coats twice in the finals on penalties, first in 1992 and then in 2015. In between the two defeats, is the 2010 loss to Egypt in Angola.
Andre Ayew was part of the team that lost in the finals in 2010 and 2015 and remains a key player to the Black Stars.
Ghana are chasing a fifth AFCON triumph, having won the tournament four times between the 60's and the 70's.
