FootballAlexis Sanchez Tipped with Sensational Return to Premier League
- Alexis Sanchez is on of Everton’s potential targets for the January transfer window
- Inter are ready to let the Chilean walk for free, with Everton his most likely destination
- Rafa Benitez is reportedly fearful of losing either Calvert Lewin or Richarlison, with Everton languishing in the bottom half of the table
Inter Milan have offered Everton the chance to sign winger Alexis Sanchez on a free transfer, according to stunning reports.
According to Sunsport, there are fears at Goodison Part that Everton might lose star forwards Richarlison or Dominic Calvert Lewin in the January transfer window.
Everton, under Rafa Benitez, have not made the best of starts in the Premier League this season and with half the campaign gone, the gaffer is facing an uphill task of pushing his side away from the bottom half of the log.
In the event Richarlison or Dominic Calvert Lewin leaves, Benitez will look to Sanchez as one of the options to replace either forward.
While nothing is confirmed yet, bringing in Sanchez will be a huge gamble on Benitez’s end as the Chilean has struggled to replicate the form that saw him become a household name while playing for Arsenal.
After bagging 80 goals in 166 matches for the Gunners, Sanchez eventually secured a move to Manchester United in January 2018, but was underwhelming for the Red Devils, only managing five goals in 45 appearances.
He quietly moved to Inter Milan in the summer of 2019 after a torrid spell at Manchester United and amid an injury-laden spell with the Nerazzurri, he has once again failed to find top gear.
For Inter, he has only managed to score 14 times 86 appearances, although he formed part of the squad that lifted the Serie A under Antonio Conte last year.
Benitez’s other attacking prospect is the much younger Taty Castellanos, who currently plays for Major League Soccer club New York City FC.
Premier League club Chelsea set to complete first signing of the January 2021 transfer window
FootballCastellanos, currently contracted with the MLS club until 2025, is available for £14m.
He currently looks like the much better option for Everton , considering his age and the fact that he bagged 23 goals for his side last term.
Maitland-Niles joins Roma on loan
In other transfer news, Arsenal midfielder Ainsley-Maitland Niles on Saturday, January 8 completed a loan move to Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma.
The move, according to football insider Fabrizio Romano, is purely a loan deal, with no option to buy.
Coutinho joins Villa on loan
Elsewhere, Aston Villa have completed a sensational loan signing of Barcelona attacker Phillipe Coutinho from Barcelona.
Villa boss Steven Gerrard was a huge influence in Coutinho’s decision to ultimately join the Villains after the pair engaged in talks which heightened from Wednesday, January 5.
