Former Bafana star Bradley Carnell is making big waves as he makes his way to Major League Soccer (MLS) to coach new club St Louis FC.
Carnell is no stranger to coaching roles and the MLS having served as the New York Red Bulls assistant coach for the past five seasons. He also served as interim coach for the Red Bulls towards the end of the last season, helping lead them to the play-offs.
On hiring Carnell St Louis FC's sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel said that they wanted to hire someone who understood the ins and outs of the MLS, Sports24 reported.
According to ESPN Carnell and Pfannenstiel share a brief history as well. In 2015 Carnell attended a coaching course run by Pfannenstiel and finished at the top of the class.
New St Louis FC coach Bradley Carnell is a South African legend
A former Wits University and Kaizer Chiefs player, Bradley Carnell is a legend in local footballing circles. Carnell played 42 games for Bafana Bafana and was a former assistant coach at Orlando Pirates.
His appointment also received a lot of support from proud South Africans on social media.
