Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has been secretly moved to one of the roughest prisons in the UK after concerns over his safety the Sports Bible reports.
Mendy who has featured for current Premier League champions Manchester City at the first week of the current league season has been charged with sexual assault and will be appearing before a court on Friday.
The Daily Star reports that the France international player was moved just before Christmas to top-security prison Strangeways over fears for his safety.
The decision was made as the Category-A conditions at Strangeways were felt to be better equipped to deal with any potential issues as compared to Liverpool’s HMP Altercourse prisons where he was formally held.
