The various township football festivals which kept football fans entertained during the festive season continued to showcase unseen talent.
The internationally televised Philly's Games were no different in Midrand, as young and old wizards displayed technique and skills which wowed audiences at venues, at home and abroad. One talented youngster, however, has captured the imagination.
Doornkop Student's Mfundo Vilakazi left opponents in his wake as he helped his team reach the semifinals of a hotly contested tournament, as reported in The South African. Many viewers clamoured PSL teams to sign the sensational Vilakazi, even though he is on Kaizer Chiefs' books at U15 and U17 level.
Former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane sang his praises, before warning on his Twitter account:
"Mfundo Vilakazi (OB): A talented young man, he needs to be protected, developed properly, get proper guidance and at the right time, be introduced. Just a thought nje and I know that it might be taken ka tsela e wrong. But anyway…"

This year's Philly's Games were a real hit with fans, from the likes of Mfundo Dlamini to the unconventional use of the Video Assistant Referee.
The story of the tournament, however, was a linesman entertaining the crowd before the start of the final between 18 Mambas and Ambassadors in a viral video on YouTube.
As reported in Sports Brief, the linesman, Michael Khosa, a popular fixture during the two-week-long tournament, was conducting a pre-match pitch and goalpost inspection. Without warning, he burst into a sprint, before hopping like a gazelle to his starting position.
