Wijnaldum joined PSG for free in the summer of 2021 after his contract at Liverpool ran out.

However, all has not gone according to plan for the Dutchman, who has struggled to settle in at the French capital.

The 31-year old has struggled to nail down a regular starting place under Mauricio Pochettino and he recently also admitted he was not happy with the situation.

Fresh reports now claim Wijnaldum could make a loan move to Arsenal during the January transfer window in what would be a sensational move.

According to Four Four Two, Arsenal are looking to pounce on a deal that would see Wijnaldum move to North London to help them with their quest of qualifying for the Champions League.

Arsenal are particularly in need of a bolstering in midfield especially after the departures of Mohamed El Neny and Thomas Partey, who have left for AFCON duty.

Wijnaldum himself is open to a return to the Premier League.

In the Ligue 1, he has made nine appearances for PSG in the league, but constantly finds himself fighting for spots with more settled players in the side like Marco Veratti, Danilo Pereira, Leandro Parades, Ander Herrera and Idrissa Gueye.

Wijnaldum has also been linked with a move to Newcastle, a club he played for briefly before joining Liverpool in 2016.

With the Magpies, he scored 11 goals in 40 games but it was with Liverpool that he really established himself.

Having spent five years with the Merseyside reds, Wijnaldum made 22 goals in 237 appearances, helping the side win the Champions League and Premier League.
