6. 1955 Topps Roberto Clemente | $1.107 million

At an auction in September 2022, a rookie card of Roberto Clemente from 1955 Topps brought more than $1 million. According to PWCC Marketplace representatives, it sold for $1.05 million, making it the second-most expensive Clemente memorabilia ever, just behind the one that sold for $1.107 million.

On December 31, 1972, Roberto Clemente tragically perished in a plane accident en route to Nicaragua to aid earthquake victims. With the Pirates, Clemente completed his Hall of Fame career as an All-Star 15 times, four-time batting champion, two-time World Series champion, and World Series MVP.

5. 1916 Sporting News Babe Ruth | $2.46 million

His inclusion on the list with two cards is no surprise, given that he was among the most well-known athletes of the 20th century. It is highly sought after because it depicts him playing for the Boston Red Sox before his infamous New York Yankees trade.

Dent's Mile High Card Company set a record for a Ruth rookie card when it sold it to an unidentified buyer for $2.46 million in an online auction on November 20, 2021. It also sold for $600,000 six years ago.

4. 2009 Bowman Draft Mike Trout | $3.936 million

Most records eventually fall, and the T206 Honus Wagner no longer holds the record for being the most expensive baseball card ever purchased. In the wee hours of Sunday, August 23, 2020, the 2009 Bowman Chrome Draft Mike Trout Superfractor autograph sold for $3.936 million through Goldin Auctions.

That not only surpasses but destroys the 1909–11 T206 Honus Wagner's previous world record. A replica of the Wagner, known as the "Jumbo Wagner", sold for $3.12 million in 2016. 3. 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth | $4.212 million

The Babe still wields considerable influence. Early on July 11, it became clear at Memory Lane Inc. when three Babe Ruth baseball cards each exceeded the million-dollar mark. A 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth set the pace, selling for $4,212,000 after the buyer's premium.

There are four different from Babe Ruth in the set, and the 1933 Goudey card is #53. The hardest of the four portrait cards is the one with a yellow background. Only this particular copy of #53 received a Mint 9 rating from PSA.

2. 1909 T-206 Honus Wagner | $7.25 million

The rare baseball card is worth a lot of money. The American Tobacco Company created the 1909 T-206 Wagner card. It was sold for $6.6 million in August 2021; a year later, on August 4, 2022, a record-breaking $7.25 million was paid for it.

Since they were so rare, the Honus Wagner memorabilia served as the Holy Grail of baseball collecting for many years. Only 50 of these had been made before Wagner demanded that the American Tobacco Company recall them because they had been made without his consent.
