Donning a one-off livery is not an uncommon sight in Formula 1, with teams often unveiling special designs to announce new partnerships, celebrate milestones, or even for pre-race testing.
Most recently, McLaren Racing unveiled a special livery for the 2024 Japanese Grand Prix, and Ferrari - not for the first time - are set to utilise a blue theme at the 2024 Miami Grand Prix.
The Italian constructor used a blue livery in the final two races of the 1964 season after founder, Enzo Ferrari, fell out with the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and promised to no longer use the red synonymous with the Maranello team.

Fast forward to 2024, and the Italian team is celebrating the anniversary of their entry into the United States market in 1964, opting for a special blue livery to commemorate the occasion.
In light of this, Sports Brief examines four of the best one-off liveries in Formula 1 history.

Red Bull Racing - 2005 Monaco Grand Prix
At that time, the Milton Keynes-based team had recently acquired Jaguar Racing. They decided to use their livery to promote a movie during the Monaco Grand Prix.
The car was adorned with lava graphics and featured Darth Vader to promote Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. Even more memorable was the sight of the pit crew dressed as stormtroopers.
Unfortunately for the Austrian team, both of their cars would eventually crash out of the weekend's Grand Prix.

In honour of Mercedes' 200th F1 race, the team celebrated by dressing in old-school gear, while the cars were given special liveries featuring a white front end. Being on home turf and in excellent form, the weekend seemed poised to be perfect.
However, for the Brackley-based team, the weekend concluded as a largely underwhelming outing. Valtteri Bottas crashed, and Lewis Hamilton only managed to finish in the points.
Scuderia Ferrari - 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix
The Italian constructor did show off a beautiful one-off livery at the 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix.
It was the Maranello team's 1,000th Grand Prix race, and they donned a special livery to celebrate it.
Sadly, Ferrari could only muster an eighth and a 10-place finish for their drivers.

The Austrian team, Red Bull Racing, has a penchant for running special liveries. At the 2007 British Grand Prix, they once again debuted a new look.

They repeated a similar campaign in 2012, but this time filtered the photos to align with their traditional colour scheme of blue and yellow.
