  • Ferrari recently put a stop to Red Bull’s dominance with a victory in Australia
  • Sports Brief highlights a list of teams with the most race victories in the sport

Formula 1 is a world marked by its inherent unpredictability. From a minor delay in a pit stop to a slight engine malfunction or a strategic error in tyre management, the margin between victory and defeat is often razor-thin.

Since its inception in 1950, several teams have established themselves as consistent winners in the sport.

However, the dynamics shifted significantly with the introduction of the ground effect era in 2022. Red Bull Racing have emerged as the dominant force, leaving the rest of the grid to share just seven race victories among themselves over the seasons.

In light of this significant shift, Sports Brief highlights a list of teams with the most race victories in Formula 1.

Formula 1 teams with the most race wins

Williams Racing

Williams currently occupies fifth place on the list of teams with the most race victories in Formula 1.

The British team continues to compete in Formula 1 under the name of its founder, Sir Frank Williams. Since their debut, Williams have secured nine world titles as a constructor and a total of 114 races.

Their most recent victory occurred in 2012, when Venezuelan driver, Pastor Maldonado, triumphed at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Red Bull Racing

Red Bull Racing have recently ascended to fourth place in the all-time list of Formula 1 race winners. Despite entering the sport relatively recently in 2005, the team have already amassed an impressive record with 115 Grand Prix victories, boasting a winning percentage exceeding 30%.

The Milton Keyes outfit have also clinched six constructors' championships and seven drivers' championships. Notably, Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen have been the most prolific winners for the team.

In the current 2024 season, the Austrian outfit has already secured two victories out of the three races held so far.

Mercedes AMG

Mercedes holds the third position on our list and boasts the highest winning percentage, a remarkable feat considering its relatively short history in the sport. The Mercedes team have been active for only 16 Formula 1 seasons, participating in 293 Grands Prix.

The German constructor has a rich history in the sport, dating back to the early 1950s with Juan Manuel Fangio and, some sixty years later, with drivers like Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. With a total of 125 victories, Mercedes boasts an impressive winning percentage of 42.7%.

McLaren Racing

Founded by Bruce McLaren in 1966, the British constructor McLaren have an extensive history in Formula 1, having competed in 946 Grands Prix.

The team have celebrated victory on no fewer than 183 occasions, and has secured eight world constructors' titles. McLaren's success is further underscored by its 12 world drivers' titles, with legendary names such as Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, and Mika Hakkinen contributing significantly to the team's legacy of triumph.

Ferrari

The Ferrari team remains the most successful in Formula 1 history. Founded by Enzo Ferrari, the Maranello team made its debut in the first official Formula 1 Grand Prix in 1950 and has participated in every season since.

Ferrari has completed over 1000 Grands Prix, securing a remarkable 243 victories per data courtesy of AutoSport. The team has amassed an impressive record of 16 constructors' titles and 15 drivers' titles.

The last drivers' title was claimed in 2007 by Kimi Raikkonen. Ferrari's most dominant period was between 1999 and 2005, when it clinched six consecutive constructors' championships and five drivers' titles with the legendary Michael Schumacher at the helm.

Sports Brief in a previous report stated Mercedes has drawn up a shortlist of drivers to replace Ferrari-bound Hamilton.

The list features Fernando Alonso, Formula 2 star, Kimi Antonelli, and two other drivers.
