FootballLewis Hamilton: Mercedes Boss Confirms Talk With F1 Legend to Find Replacement
- Lewis Hamilton shockingly left Mercedes last week and joined Ferrari
- The seven-time world champion departs after 11 years with the brand
- The Silver Arrows are in talks to get a replacement for the legend
Mercedes are in contact to find a replacement for Lewis Hamilton, who will race for Ferrari in 2025, though there is a slim chance their contact will join the company.
Hamilton shockingly announced the 2024 season will be his last as he will be moving to competitor Ferrari from 2024 after 11 successful years with Mercedes.
Per Sportune, the contract with Ferrari is worth $87 million for the 2025 season with an option to extend for another season, with a quarter of it going into Mission 44.
The contract goes beyond racing, according to the reports. A joint investment brand will be created with Exor, Ferrari’s parent brand, where he will be an ambassador in a deal worth $272 million.

Mercedes contacts Hamilton’s replacement
Hamilton and George Russell are the two drivers for the Silver Arrows and will pair up for the final season in 2024, while the brand has already started looking for replacements for the outgoing star.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff confirmed via Metro UK that he contacted legendary driver and four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel as he looks to replace the British driver.
He downplayed that Vettel, who raced for Mercedes and Ferrari before retiring in 2022, will come out of retirement, and the contact could be seen as mere consultation.
“I think he made the decision not to race anymore. We are talking on a regular basis. We’ve also talked yesterday [last Thursday], but it wasn’t about driving for us in the future,” he said.
Hamilton could make history on his way out of the company if he wins the world title this year – it will be his eighth title, surpassing Michael Schumacher.
