- Formula 1 wrapped up the 2023 season at the Yas Marina Circuit
- Red Bull’s Sergio Perez finished second in the drivers' standings
- The driver has identified an area he must improve on next season
The 2023 Formula 1 season concluded with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix under the lights of the Yas Marina Circuit.
The season, which has been characterised by the impeccable dominance of Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen, wrapped up with the Dutch driver clinching a record-extending 19th victory of the 2023 season.
Amid the dominance of the Milton-Keynes team, one thing that remained evident was the struggle of Sergio Perez throughout a large part of the mid-season.
The 33-year-old driver, who started the season challenging Verstappen for the championship, saw his form plummet uncontrollably following his second-place finish at the Miami Grand Prix, as reported by GPblog.
Nevertheless, Perez staged a remarkable comeback towards the end of the season. Despite facing challenges, he showcased stellar driving skills at the Brazil Grand Prix and also secured a podium finish, even with his rear wing carrying excessive downforce at the Las Vegas GP.
After concluding the challenging 2023 season with a career-high second-place finish, the Mexican star has reflected on areas for improvement as he looks ahead to the 2024 campaign.
Perez on his 2024 improvement
The former BWT Racing Point driver, who took to the media following his post-season testing at the Yas Marina Circuit, touched on what he needs to improve for the new season.
Quoted by Red Bulletin, he stated:
"I think the Sunday form has been very, very strong this year. That’s the only reason we finished P2 in the championship. Definitely, Saturdays have been very difficult this season, and it’s something we’ve got to work on and make sure that we take a step there, and we improve for next year."
