The Mexican Grand Prix kicked off with a burst of excitement and drama. Max Verstappen gave Red Bull plenty to celebrate as he surged into the lead even before the first turn. However, the same couldn't be said for his teammate Sergio Perez, who was competing in his home Grand Prix.
In an attempt to secure a Red Bull one-two at the start, the 33-year-old Mexican took an aggressive approach to overtake Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc. Unfortunately, Perez's aggressive move led to contact with Leclerc's car, damaging Perez's right rear tire as he approached the first turn of the Autodrome Hermanos Rodriguez circuit.
