Formula 1Formula 1: Max Verstappen Reveals Plan to Set Up Racing Team
- Max Verstappen has never hidden his love for moto racing
- The Red Bull driver has won the last two Formula 1 championships
- Verstappen is working on creating his own GT3 team
Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen has revealed his intent to establish a GT3 racing team, with his aim to subsequently ascend up the hierarchy of endurance motor racing.
Under the name Verstappen.com Racing, the Dutch driver, along with his family, is actively working on establishing a two-car GT3 team. They aim to compete in prestigious series like the GT World Challenge (GTWC) starting in 2025.
Verstappen further looks to expand his passion for racing beyond real-world racing but also actively participates in virtual racing.
The two-time world champion is believed to be with a vision of creating a platform that can identify talented sim racers and provide them with opportunities to develop their skills for a potential career in GT racing.
Verstappen speaks on GT3 team
The Dutch champion affirmed his aspirations as a team owner are just as ambitious as his pursuits on the Formula 1 grid.
Speaking to Dutch Magazine Formule 1 he said:
"It all started with Team Redline in sim racing
"With Verstappen.com Racing we are sponsoring and supporting various racing activities from people close to me.
We are also active in DTM and the GTWC Sprint with Thierry Vermeulen [the son of Verstappen's manager Raymond Vermeulen] and with my father in rallying, but the end goal is to put together our own race team.
"The first step in our own GT3 team and then we'll see where we end up. It would be nice to be able to grow to the highest level in endurance racing.
"We are working on it at the moment. Next year will be tight, but I would like to have it as soon as possible. Having a GT3 team in 2025 with a minimum of two cars should be possible.
Messi could make first start against Atlanta says Martino
Football"If I do something, I want to do it right. I want to win with this as well.
And it's about creating a stepping stone from sim racing to GT3 so that you don't have to only go through karting to get into motorsports because that costs a lot of money at the moment.
"We have been working on it for a while. The planning phase is over, we are in action mode now."
Verstappen who is on course for a third world championship will be looking to continue his impressive run when the 2023 season resumes in Zandvoort.
The Dutch only recently equalled Sebastian Vettel’s record number of wins for Red Bull racing as per reports from Formula1.com.
Norris breaks Verstappen's trophy
Sports Brief recently reported on Verstappen's reaction to Norris breaking his trophy at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
The British driver accidentally broke the trophy whilst trying to pop his champagne in a rather unique way.
Verstappen said he would give a red card to Norris for shattering his award.
