FootballFormula 1: Sergio Perez Reveals Season Ambition After Spa Grand Prix Podium
- Formula 1 returned for round 12 of the 2023 season with the Belgian Grand Prix
- Red Bull secured another race victory with Sergio Perez returning to second place on the podium
- The Mexican driver has revealed his plan for the remainder of the Formula 1 season
Formula 1 continued at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps for round 12 of the 2023 season.
A rain-filled weekend at the Belgian circuit was seamlessly dominated by Max Verstappen of Red Bull.
The two-time Formula 1 champion dominated all through the weekend from qualifying, through Saturday’s sprint and the main race on Sunday.
While many expected Verstappen to produce a dominating performance as he has done in the previous 11 races, it was the driving of his teammate, Sergio Perez that caught the eyes of many.
The Mexican driver was reported by Sky Sports at the beginning of the season to have set his aim for the world championship title this season.
Checo, as he is fondly called, started the season very well and headed into the Grand Prix at Miami just a single point off his teammate Verstappen.
Sadly for Perez, he appeared to suffer a loss of form at the race in Monaco and struggled to secure a podium up until the team’s home race in Austria.
The driver has since found his feet again with the double podium places in the last races at Hungary and Belgium serving as a confidence boost for the 33-year-old.
Ahead of the Formula 1 summer break, the driver spoke of his new season ambition.
Perez sets new season target
Perez speaking to Sky Sports at Parc Ferme, Perez made clear what his new ambition is after overcoming his recent struggles.
The Mexican driver, as quoted by Motorsportweek, said:
“I really look forward to not leaving the podium anymore from now until the end of the year,

Perez reveals Verstappen’s NFL skills
In a previous report, Sports Brief stated that Perez, 33, gave a surprising answer when asked about Verstappen’s chances of succeeding in the NFL.
Perez chose a diplomatic approach to tackle this question. He felt that Verstappen would do better in an attacking position, while Alpha Tauri’s Daniel Ricciardo would be better suited to a defensive role.
