FootballMax Verstappen Condemns Lewis Hamilton’s F1 Rule Change Proposal
- Lewis Hamilton wants Formula 1 to introduce a date when teams can start working on next year's car
- Red Bull driver Max Verstappen dismissed the suggestions of the Mercedes driver, saying "Life is unfair"
- Red Bull have dominated the 2023 season, winning all eight races so far
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has dismissed Lewis Hamilton's radical Formula 1 proposal.
The Mercedes driver suggested the FIA should put measures in place to prevent one team from getting an advantage by working on next year's car early.
Red Bull are having a terrific season so far. They are unbeaten this year, having won all eight grand prix's and the one Sprint. The Dutchman has a 69-point lead over Sergio Perez in the Drivers' Championship standings. Aston Martic and F1 veteran Fernando Alonso are third, nine points behind Perez.
Hamilton is 4th, 93 points behind Verstappen. Moreover, Red Bull have a staggering 154-point lead in the Constructors' Championship over Hamilton's Mercedes.
Verstappen rubbished Hamilton's proposal
Hamilton is happy with Mercedes and said they will catch Red Bull later on the track, but only because they are focusing on 2024, according to Sky Sports.
"They don't have to make any changes to this year's car any more as they're so far ahead. He's cruising at 100 points ahead of us. I think the FIA should probably put a time when everyone is allowed to start developing on the next year's car. So August 1, that's when everybody can start so then no one can get an advantage on the next year."
Hamilton and Mercedes dominated the sport in the last decade, winning eight successive world championships from 2014 to 2021. Hamilton feels Formula 1 needs to be more competitive rather than having one team dominate for years.

FootballVerstappen was unimpressed with the Briton's suggestions.
"Life is unfair, as well. So it's not only in Formula 1," Verstappen said. "A lot of things in life are unfair so we just have to deal with it...We weren't talking about that when [Lewis] was winning his championships, right? So I don't think we should now."
Investigations revealed Red Bull breached the 2021 budget cap, which saw them get a £6 million fine and a 10 per cent reduction in their aerodynamic development time, per the Telegraph.
F1 to change grid walk
Sports Brief earlier reported on the FIA considering restricted grid access after an incident at the Spanish Grand Prix involving PSG forward Neymar.
The Brazilian star and several other guests were spotted still on the edge of the main straight when the formation lap in Barcelona got underway.
That incident could reportedly now lead to restrictions on grid access, potentially cutting down the number of celebrities allowed on the grid walk.
