The 200m euros (£171m) deal values Alpine Racing, which is based in Britain, at about £706m.

Alpine are fifth in this year's F1 constructors' championship.

Reynolds and McElhenney completed their takeover at Wrexham in 2021 and the Welsh club were promoted back to the Football League after a 15-year absence when they won the National League title in April and are now teaming up with Creed actor, Michael B. Jordan

US investment firm RedBird is an investor in Fenway Sports Group, the owner of Premier League side Liverpool and the Boston Red Sox baseball team.

According to the New York Times, RedBird bought Italian Serie A club AC Milan in August 2022 in a 1.2bn euro deal and has a controlling stake in French Ligue 1 side Toulouse.

Alpine Chief on latest development

Alpine chief executive Laurent Rossi, quoted by SkySports F1, aired his thoughts about the takeover.

Rossi said:

"This association is an important step to enhance our performance at all levels."
Rossi added the investment would "boost" the F1 team's media profile, which in turn would support Alpine's "performance over the long term".
"Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners and Maximum Effort Investments, as international players with strong track record in the sports industry, will bring their recognised expertise to boost our media and marketing strategy, essential to support our sporting performance over the long term
"The incremental revenue generated will in turn be reinvested in the team, in order to further accelerate our Mountain Climber plan, aimed at catching up with top teams in terms of state-of-the-art facilities and equipment."

Mountain Climber' is a plan to be fighting for championships within the space of 100 races, starting in 2022.

Formula 1 to make gridwalk change

Sports Brief earlier reported the FIA are considering placing restrictions on grid access after an incident at the Spanish Grand Prix where Neymar and several other guests were still on the edge of the main straight when the formation lap got underway.

Celebrities and other invited guests are granted access to the grid at the start of races on Sunday, with reporters often grabbing a quick word with some of them.
