According to Sport24, his agent Rob Humphries said:

"There was a third bleed on the brain and it needed to be operated. That particular operation has been successful. There's been no further blood clotting and all of his vital numbers have started to go up as a result of that third surgery.
"I spend the whole day with him and he's trying to open his eyes, trying to remove his breathing apparatus, and he can move his legs. The feedback is that they've reduced his sedation by quite a lot as he's showing physical signs of life, so the fact he can move his hands and legs is important."

EWN reported that the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture along with Cricket South Africa had pledged their support for Khumalo and his family. The Department of Home Affairs was roped in to fast-track their passport application so that they can be by his side.
