The South African national women's cricket were in full control in defeating the West Indies in the final One Day International at the Wanderers.
The Proteas ran out comfortable winners by six wickets with over 10 overs to spare to win the series 4-1. The team wore its black uniform as part of the Black Day initiative to create awareness and protest against gender-based violence.
Kycia Knight top scored for the visitors with 48, unfortunately missing out on a half-century, with Deandra Dottin contributing 36 runs, the only other batter to score more than 20 in the team's total of 174 all out.
Shabnim Ismail was the chief destroyer with ball-in-hand, taking four wickets for 44 runs in her allotted 10 overs, ably assisted by Chloe Tryon (2-16, six overs) and Ayabonga Khaka (2-25, 10 overs).
The Proteas hardly broke a sweat in chasing down the modest total. Andrie Steyn top scored with 52 runs, Sune Luus missed out on 50 by being dismissed on 47, while Laura Wolvaardt capped off the routine victory with 23 runs.
Anisa Mohamed took two wickets for 31 runs, while Aaliyah Alleyne and Afy Fletcher each chipped in with a wicket each.
The series win was the Proteas' third one on the bounce since losing to New Zealand back in February 2020. They will be in action again at the 2022 Cricket World Cup to be held in New Zealand next month.
