FootballAndy Ruiz says he'll be "10lbs lighter" ahead of Anthony Joshua rematch
- Andy Ruiz Jr has hinted he will drop 10lbs of his weight ahead of rematch with Anthony Joshua
- The Mexican champion will be defending his heavyweight belts against the British-born pugilist in Saudi Arabia
- Ruiz stunned the world of boxing when he knocked out Joshua in June 2018 to become the new WBA, IBF & WBO heavyweight champion
Andy Ruiz Jr has dropped hints on new strategy as he intensifies training in a build-up to his much anticipated fight against British-Nigerian born fighter Anthony Joshua.
The Mexican champion will be defending his heavyweight belts when he faces Joshua in an epoch-making fight slated for December 2019 in Saudi Arabia.
Ruiz Jr, then a grossly overweight underdog, stunned the world when he defeated Joshua through seventh round knockout to cart away the Briton's WBA, IBF & WBO belts in June 1, 2018, in New York.
But ahead of the Saudi rematch, the boxing champion revealed he will be "10lbs lighter" as he seeks to be a better fighter in the rematch.
“I kind of wanted to be a little heavier because Anthony Joshua’s big, I wanted to carry his weight, take the punches well but I think being 10lbs lighter, I’m going to be a better fighter,'' Ruiz said.
On his opponent's slimmer look, the world champion noted: “He looks a little slimmer, but I don’t think that’s going to do any different.”

The former WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO champion was in the middle of cutting his chocolate cake during his training camp in Sheffield before officials came to take blood samples for druq test.
