Anthony Joshua is in high spirits after finishing off his last opponent with a brutal knockout punch and has wasted no time calling out his next one, a very household name.
Joshua delivered a vicious blow to knockout Robert Helenius in the seventh round. However, it appeared he intentionally prolonged the fight, having had opportunities in the fifth and sixth rounds of their encounter at the 02 Arena in London.
According to Metro UK, Helenius came in at short notice the original opponent, Dillian Whyte, was pulled from the show after returning an adverse anti-doping finding.
Joshua sends message to Wilder
The victory scored over Helenius puts the Nigerian in good spirits ahead of the fight against Deontay Wilder, which is already in the works and could hold in Saudi Arabia next year, and the 33-year-old is already calling the Bronze Bomber out.
"There's no worry to me when it is. I'm just happy we can get the fight going and I think people appreciate that. I'm doing my best to keep heavyweight boxing on the map," he said via Sky Sports.
"I'm just focused on smashing his head in now. And that's it."
Evening Standard reported that Matchboxing promoter Eddie Hearn confirms plans for the Joshua-Wilder match in Saudi Arabia and expects that an agreement will be reached in the coming days, with the Arabian organisers also present in London.
Both men could go into the match on the back of fighting Finnish boxer Helenius, who was also knocked out by Wilder last October.
