- The Tanzanian boxer is expected to face Daniel Wanyonyi in their second match this year
- Mandonga won their first clash via a TKO decision in the fifth round
Popular boxer Karim Mandonga 'Mtu Kazi' has arrived in the country ahead of his highly-anticipated re-match against Kenyan boxer Daniel Wanyonyi.
The two are set to renew their rivalries on Saturday, July 22, at the Sarit Expo Centre. Mandonga triumphed in their first meeting in January when they met in a middleweight non-title fight.
The pompous Tanzanian pugilist has sent a stern warning to Wanyonyi, promising to beat him again on his own home turf.
"I have prepared adequately for the fight on Saturday and Wanyonyi must prepare himself psychologically for a thorough beating, whether he likes it or not," as quoted by Star Sports.
In the first match, Mandonga won via a TKO in the fifth round as he continued to gather supporters from the country due to his big talk.
Mandonga's punches
The 39-year-old has become famous for christening his punches before matches. In the January fight, he revealed that he had a special punch from Ukraine called "ngumi ya Sungunyo."
Speaking after arriving in the country, Mandonga revealed plans to launch a new punch on Saturday, which he hilariously claimed was from Russia called "ngumi ya Kinguki."
"The first time I beat him using the 'Sungunyo' punch. This time he should be ready for 'Kinguki' from Russia. There is no going back. Anytime Russia deploys a missile, they never miss."
The bout is expected to be the showstopper over the weekend after several undercards.
