Boxing South Africa has moved to repair the image of the sport in the land.
This comes in the wake of the debacle where Floyd Mayweather pulled out of a boxing extravaganza set for Durban where he would have been a guest of Zulu monarch King MisuZulu KaZwelithini. However, an alleged pay dispute and alleged false promises scuppered the event.
According to the Sunday World, BSA said in a statement:
“BSA as the regulator of professional boxing in the country hereby wishes to tender an apology to the Zulu King, the boxing fraternity as a whole and to members of the public at large who may have been negatively affected by the actions of the Joy4Joy boxing promotions. BSA emphasises that it is the primary responsibility of promoters to stage quality and entertaining tournaments.

"This means among others that the promoter must comply with the regulatory framework of Boxing SA, particularly the boxing regulations. In the current matter, Boxing SA gave the promoter ample opportunity to comply with regulations but the promoter failed to comply, leaving Boxing SA with no option but to cancel the tournament.”

Retired boxing billionaire Floyd Mayweather has cancelled his attendance at the much-publicised “King MisuZulu International Boxing Tournament”.
The boxing extravaganza was scheduled for Moses Mabhida Stadium tomorrow after the organiser failed to pay his appearance fee.
It was reported that the organiser, Arnold Nododile, attempted to sway the American superstar into attending the event by sending him and his team a fake R5.8-million proof of payment.

The daughter of boxing legend Floyd Mayweather will serve six years of deferred adjudication, after pleading guilty to stabbing a woman in a US court.
Iyanna Mayweather appeared in court on October 17 and entered a plea of guilty to the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, stemming from the incident in April 2020.
Court documents stated Iyanna stabbed a woman several times in the arm after a fight stemming from an incident in Cypress.
