  • Anthony Joshua is eyeing a blockbuster fight with Tyson Fury that he says will eventually happen
  • The world anticipates a mega showdown between both British heavyweight boxers sometime in future
  • AJ says aside from entertainment, culture will be displayed by both fighters of the same generation

Anthony Joshua has suggested that the highly-anticipated all-British bout with Tyson Fury will eventually happen 'in the near future'.

AJ has been touted to take on the Gypsy King, but somehow an agreement has not been reached since they were billed to meet in 2021.

Although both parties had signed a two-fight deal in March 2021, with the first bout scheduled for Saudi Arabia on August 14, a US Court ruled that Deontay Wilder was billed for a trilogy bout with Fury, which ended the agreement.

Joshua then lost twice to mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk, ending any chance to take on Fury.

However, it seems an all-British fight will eventually happen, as Joshua and Fury enter into fresh negotiations for a fight on December 3.

Despite all the frustrations in the build-up, Joshua remains hopeful that the fight will happen. He told DAZN:

“It will happen... Same generation. Aside from the entertainment side, just as two competitors, two fighters, he’s definitely a fighting man and what people fail to realise – like they say ‘the social media stuff is annoying’ but culturally speaking from Tyson Fury’s culture, the Gypsy culture - you’ve watched the documentaries on Netflix and stuff it’s embedded in his culture."

Responding to comments about Tyson Fury asking why he is on social media, Joshua replied:

“I know from growing up and being around that community as well, so I know that’s just how they call out fights and stuff. It’s nothing personal but from my culture, we don’t really deal with stuff like that. We’re a bit more low-key and handle our business, so that’s where there’s a culture clash.”

Deontay Wilder ready to face Joshua

Sports Brief earlier reported that Joshua would likely face off with Deontay Wilder in a mega fight scheduled for the 80,000-capacity Wembley Stadium next year.

Last month, Wilder returned to action as he knocked out Robert Helenius inside three minutes in New York.

Joshua has been informed that the Bronze Bomber is desperately interested in the bout and wants it to happen next year.
