Mike Tyson Once Offered Zookeeper $10,000 To Allow Him To Fight a Gorilla

Former heavyweight champions Mike Tyson has disclosed that he once offered a zookeeper $10,000 to let him fight a gorilla.

'The baddest man on the planet' is a known lover of animals and even had a tiger as a pet.

However, Tyson seemingly has less love for gorillas than big cats as he dared to fight the ground-dwelling great ape.

According to the 56-year-old, he once visited a with his then-partner Robin Givens Tyson and hired out the whole place only to himself to watch the animals peacefully without getting mobbed by fans.

But Tyson noticed a gorilla was picking on others so he wanted to put the animal in his place by boxing it.

Tyson told said, quoted by Talk Sports. “I paid a worker at New York’s zoo to re-open it just for me and Robin. When we got to the gorilla cage, there was one big silverback gorilla there just bullying all the other gorillas. They were so powerful but their eyes were like an innocent infant.”

“I offered the attendant $10000 to open the cage and let smash that silverback’s snot box. He declined.”

The incident reportedly took place in the 1980s when Tyson was an unbeaten heavyweight champion and widely regarded as one of the most dangerous fighters on the planet.

Popularly known as Iron Man, Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion after defeating Trevor Berbick with a second-round knockout win at the age of 20.
