Boxing Hall of Famer Mike Tyson Makes Touching Revelation About His Time in Prison

Legendary boxer Mike Tyson has revealed the best years of his life were spent while serving a prison sentence.

Mike Tyson, nicknamed 'Iron Mike' due to his devastating punches and ferocious boxing style, is regarded as one of the best boxers to have graced the sport.

The former WBA, WBC and IBF heavyweight champion was convicted of rape in 1992 when he was accused by Miss Black America contestant Desiree Washington.

Despite denying the accusations, Tyson was slapped with a 10-year prison sentence, 6 in prison and four on probation, but because of his good behaviour, he was in prison for only 3 years.

Reflecting on his time in prison, the boxing Hall of Famer described his three years behind bars as the best of his life.

"I had the best three years of my life in prison," said Tyson. "I had peace. That money doesn't mean anything if you don't have your peace, your stability and your balance. You need your sanity to dictate any part of life." Tyson told "The Pivot Podcast" as quoted by MARCA.

"I had good food, everybody was nice to me, and they treated me well."

"I would run around the yard 8 or 9 miles and in the evenings I would jump for four hours, in my cell. Everybody treated me good in jail, they were afraid of me, but I was always a good person."

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Boxing legend Mike Tyson has opened up about how he had unprotected, intimate meetings with his school teacher while in prison and she eventually got pregnant.

Back in 1992, the boxing legend was convicted of r*pe and sentenced to six years imprisonment.

He had just won his bout with Donovan Ruddock before he went into prison, even though he was already at the pinnacle of his boxing career, Mirror reports.
