The Kenyan star clocked 6.52 seconds to finish second behind Lyles, and the two will now face off in the final. Omanyala had a great start, but Lyles was not to be beaten, per World Athletics.

The American clocked 6.47 seconds. Japan's Shuhei Tada finished third. The American, who had a shaky performance in the first round, came from behind to win the heat in 6.47 seconds.

Omanyala set a national record in the first round to go through. He could've been disqualified for stepping in another lane.

The fastest man in Africa had a comfortable race but had to work harder in the last stages of the heat to secure second place ahead of Tada.

He was eliminated in the semis in the 2022 edition but has a great opportunity to get his first indoor medal.

Coleman, Blake qualify for final

World 60m record holder Christian Coleman clocked a world-leading time of 6.43 seconds to easily win the first heat of the semi-final.

Coleman was recently beaten in the American National Indoor Championships but has laid down a marker in the semis, per NBC Sports. The two are the favourites to finish in the top two.

Jamaica's Ackeem Blake won the second heat in 6.1 seconds ahead of Cameroon's Emmanuel Eseme, who registered a national record of 6.52 seconds.

Omanyala sets new record

Sports Brief earlier reported that Omanyala stormed to victory at the Paris Indoor Tour on Sunday, February 11, setting a new record.

The Kenyan sprint star broke his national record again, running 6.51 seconds to finish ahead of Emmanuel Matadi in the 60m.

Matadi used 6.57 seconds to finish in second place behind Omanyala, with Azu Jeremiah third with 6.59 seconds.
